How to prepare for a campus visit

One well-prepared visit is worth several brochures. Here is how to structure the day and what to notice.

Campus visits are the point at which a shortlist becomes a decision. They reward preparation.

Before you travel

Request a student-led portion of the tour, ask to see a boarding house in use rather than a show room, and try to visit during term time.

During the visit

Notice the noise level in corridors, the state of shared spaces at the end of the day, and whether students greet staff by name.

Afterwards

Write impressions down the same evening. After three schools, memories blend. A short written note per school makes the eventual comparison far easier.
